The Mediterranean sun might be a draw for most visitors to the Merit Royal Diamond Hotel Casino & Spa, but for the poker world’s elite, all eyes are on the felt inside the Onyx Club. The 2026 Onyx High Roller Series has officially hit its stride, producing record-breaking fields and a series of high-stakes narratives that have the rail buzzing.

From the "four-card frenzy" of the PLO Opener to the grueling marathons of the NLH Grand Slam, the series has already proven that in Cyprus, the action is as hot as the climate.

Redemption in Cyprus: Onyx Series Champions Rise from the Brink

Cyprus has established itself as the premier destination for the high-roller circuit, and the latest results from the Onyx High Roller Series 2026 are exactly why. The festival has been defined by incredible displays of resilience, with two of the biggest winners so far overcoming significant deficits to claim their trophies.

Whether it was fighting through a record-breaking Omaha field or crawling out of a seven-figure hole in the Grand Slam, the message from the Onyx Club this week is clear: a short stack and a bad run are only temporary obstacles for those with the right intuition.

Event #9: $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Opener

The demand for high-stakes Omaha has never been clearer than it was during Event #9. The tournament attracted 232 entries, making it the largest event of the series to date and pushing the prize pool to $2,180,800. The final table was a melting pot of global talent, representing nine different nationalities.

Artur Vyborov provided the highlight of the event, parlaying a late re-entry into a dominant performance. Despite facing Aren Bezhanyan, who was fresh off hitting a royal flush earlier in the day, Vyborov kept his composure. In the final hand, he managed to outdraw Bezhanyan’s dominant pre-flop holding by rivering a flush, securing his first Onyx trophy and a career-best $450,000 score.

Event #3: $50,000 NLH Grand Slam

Matthias Eibinger’s path to the $1,250,000 title in the Grand Slam was a masterclass in professional grit. "Had to be very patient," Eibinger remarked after clinching the win. His series had been a "disaster" until that point, having fired multiple unsuccessful bullets in the $100k Championship and the Grand Slam itself.

At the final table, he famously folded for hours, waiting for a single moment to strike.

That moment arrived when his pocket kings held up in a massive pot against Johan Guilbert, catapulting him into a chip lead he would never relinquish.

Eibinger’s victory not only erased his $550,000 series deficit but added another prestigious trophy to a resume that already includes four Triton titles and a WSOP bracelet.
