Lex Veldhuis Signs With GGPoker Following PokerStars Departure

Dutch poker streamer Lex Veldhuis has signed with GGPoker as its new Global Streaming Ambassador, bringing an end to speculation about his next sponsorship deal following his departure from PokerStars in January.
The agreement was announced on 3 November 2026 and sees Veldhuis join GGTeam alongside Daniel Negreanu and reigning WSOP Main Event champion Michael Mizrachi.
Veldhuis, one of poker's most prominent Twitch broadcasters, had spent 17 years representing PokerStars before announcing his departure at the beginning of the year.
He has since been playing and streaming on GGPoker without a formal sponsorship agreement. The new deal makes that relationship official and gives the operator one of the industry's most established poker content creators.
GGPoker Confirms Global Streaming Ambassador Role
Under the agreement, Veldhuis will continue broadcasting his online tournament sessions while promoting GGPoker's streaming features and wider content creator programme.
The operator also plans to introduce exclusive tournaments and promotional activities for his community, although no specific schedule has been announced.
Veldhuis said his experiences on the platform over recent months influenced his decision to sign. he said in the announcement.
GGPoker is the biggest poker site in the world, and it really feels like the natural fit for me and my community.
He added that the tournament selection, software and discussions with the company's management had renewed his enthusiasm for playing online poker.
GGPoker ambassador Daniel Negreanu welcomed the signing, describing Veldhuis as "an absolute titan in the poker streaming world."
A New Sponsor After 17 Years With PokerStars
Veldhuis' move follows one of the most significant changes of his professional career.
The Dutchman joined PokerStars in 2009 and became a central figure in the operator's streaming strategy, building a substantial Twitch following through regular broadcasts of online tournaments.
His relationship with PokerStars ended in January 2026, following a lengthy period in which his ability to play on the platform had been affected by regulatory restrictions in the Netherlands.
After leaving the company, Veldhuis returned to streaming more regularly on GGPoker and subsequently relocated with his family to Costa Rica.
His early results on the platform included a victory in June's $5,250 Bounty Hunters Main Event, worth approximately $68,000.
Despite his longstanding association with PokerStars, Veldhuis had previously indicated that he was in no rush to accept another sponsorship agreement.
Signing Strengthens GGPoker's Streaming Strategy
Veldhuis joins an ambassador roster that already includes some of poker's most recognisable names, but his appointment appears particularly focused on audience development rather than traditional professional player sponsorship.
His Twitch broadcasts regularly attract substantial audiences, making him an important figure in an increasingly competitive market for poker content.
For GGPoker, the agreement provides an established broadcaster with a sizeable following and a history of promoting online tournament poker.
For Veldhuis, it secures a new commercial partnership after a year marked by changes to both his professional and personal life.
The financial terms and duration of the agreement have not been disclosed.
Could WSOP Paradise Be His First Major Appearance?
The announcement comes less than a month before WSOP Paradise, which takes place in the Bahamas from 2 to 17 December 2026.
Veldhuis has previously expressed an interest in returning to major live tournaments, although GGPoker has not confirmed whether he will attend the festival as part of his new ambassador duties.
For now, his immediate responsibilities will centre on online streaming, content development and community promotions.
His first official appearances and initiatives as a GGTeam ambassador will provide an early indication of how the new partnership develops.
