Timur Margolin won the 2026 Merit Poker Montenegro Championship Main Event, earning €110,000. The series featured major victories by Nazar Buhaiov in the High Roller and Vladimir Lappo in the Merit Poker Cup at the Merit Royal Splendid Casino.

The 2026 Merit Poker Montenegro Championship reached its conclusion at the Merit Royal Splendid Casino in Budva. The flagship €1,650 Main Event drew 414 entries, creating a total prize pool of €571,320.

Timur Margolin Nails the Main Event Title

After five days of play, Israel's Timur Margolin secured the victory and the €110,000 top prize. Margolin, a three-time WSOP bracelet winner, entered the final table third in chips. He faced early setbacks after losing a significant pot to Nikolay Fal but managed to regain focus.

The final showdown featured a heads-up match between Margolin and Fal. In the final hand, Margolin held a jack-ten against the king-queen. A straight on the turn sealed the win for Margolin, marking his first Main Event title in twelve years.

Nazar Buhaiov Secures High Roller Victory

The €2,750 High Roller attracted a field of 128 entries. Ukraine’s Nazar Buhaiov emerged as the champion, taking home €75,000. This victory marked Buhaiov's second Merit Poker title. He previously found success in Montenegro during a 2022 festival where he won the opening event.

Buhaiov entered the final table third in chips but took control after eliminating Nemanja Tatar in fifth place. The heads-up battle against Andrey Golubev lasted only five hands. Buhaiov turned the nuts with queen-ten and called a shove from Golubev to end the tournament.

Vladimir Lappo Wins Merit Poker Cup

The €880 Merit Poker Cup saw Vladimir Lappo navigate a field of 415 entries to claim a career-best prize of €61,000. Lappo, who lives in Slovenia, credited his win to a lucky origami talisman made by his daughter.

Lappo entered the final table with a middling stack but gained momentum through several double-ups. He eventually faced Nikolay Fal in a brief heads-up match. The final hand saw Lappo’s ace-four beat the ace-eight of Fal after Lappo flopped a four and improved to trips by the river.
