WPT Australia 2026

Australian poker is officially entering a new era. The World Poker Tour has announced its return to the continent with WPT Australia 2026, locking in a massive 21-day festival from September 10 through September 30.

Moving the action to the breathtaking Darling Harbour, the operator is raising the stakes by introducing a historic dual-championship format to the Australian market. With three weeks of non-stop action, massive guaranteed prize pools, and the prestige of the WPT Champions Club on the line, the world’s best players are currently circling September on their tournament calendars.

The Headliners: Prime and Main Championships

Rather than funneling all the massive guarantees into a single weekend, WPT Australia 2026 is spreading the wealth across two distinct championship tournaments.

The first half of the festival is anchored by the AUD $1,500 WPT Prime Australia Championship (September 17-22), which traditionally draws massive fields thanks to its mid-major buy-in and elite tournament structure.

The festival then reaches its crescendo with the AUD $5,000 WPT Australia Championship (September 24-30). Both tournaments feature deep starting stacks, slow blind progressions, and global livestream coverage for the final tables, ensuring players get the authentic, televised World Poker Tour experience.

The Venue: The Star Sydney

To accommodate a festival of this magnitude, the WPT partnered with one of the most prestigious gaming venues in the country: The Star Sydney.

Taking over the poker floor at this luxurious resort, the festival guarantees a seamless, professionally dealt experience from the opening flight to the final river card. Located in the heart of Sydney, the venue is a massive draw for international travelers.

Players can easily transition from the intense concentration of the poker tables to the vibrant energy of the city, with the Sydney Opera House, stunning beaches, and world-class culinary options just minutes away from the tournament floor.
