PokerStars UK Sets Out Betfair Migration as Standalone Platform Nears Closure
- PokerStars UK accounts to migrate to Betfair; global poker pool remains.
- Balances, tickets, and T-Money will transfer or be refunded based on Betfair status.
- Some account/security settings require reconfiguration after the move.
PokerStars has published detailed instructions for UK customers ahead of its move to Betfair, explaining what will happen to player accounts, balances, tournament entries, tickets and security settings when the standalone PokerStars UK platform closes for gameplay.
The change forms part of Flutter Entertainment's new PokerStars Network strategy. Betfair became the first UK-facing Flutter brand to move onto the network on August 13, 2026, leaving Playtech's iPoker Network and launching PokerStars on Betfair. Paddy Power and Sky Poker are expected to follow later in 2026.
For existing PokerStars UK customers, the poker itself is not disappearing. Players will continue to access the global PokerStars player pool, including the Sunday Million, SCOOP and WCOOP 2026.
PokerStars has not announced an exact migration date. Its latest guidance says the move will take place "in the coming weeks."
What happens to your PokerStars UK account?
The process depends on whether a player already has an active Betfair account.
Players without an active Betfair account will have their existing PokerStars account transferred to Betfair. After the scheduled downtime, they will need to download the Betfair client and sign in using their PokerStars credentials. Their PokerStars username will become their poker nickname on Betfair.
If that username is already in use, the player may instead need to log in with the email address registered to the PokerStars account. PokerStars says this will not change the poker nickname.
Players who already have an active Betfair account will follow a different route. They are being told to withdraw their PokerStars balance and continue playing through their existing Betfair account.

Tournament entries, T-Money and tickets
For players whose accounts are transferred, tournament registrations scheduled after the downtime will move to Betfair. T-Money, unused tournament tickets and the cash balance will also transfer once the player has accepted Betfair's terms and conditions.
Players with an active Betfair account will instead be unregistered from PokerStars tournaments scheduled after the move. Buy-ins will be refunded, while T-Money and unused tickets will be converted into cash that can be withdrawn from PokerStars.
PokerStars UK will remain available for withdrawals after gameplay ends.
GBP wallets and account settings
Betfair uses GBP as its account currency. Balances held in multiple currencies will therefore be combined into one British pound wallet for transferred players.
Currency conversion will also happen automatically when players buy into or cash out of tables using another currency. PokerStars says repeated conversions and rounding can cause small differences in balances.
Several security features will not transfer. PokerStars PINs, RSA Security Tokens and security questions will need to be replaced with security options available through Betfair, while some customers may face additional verification checks.
Player-to-player transfers will also disappear, with the Transfer to Player function unavailable on Betfair.
Safer gambling settings require attention too. Self-exclusion and active time-outs will remain in place, but not every preference transfers automatically. PokerStars says the most restrictive existing deposit limit will move across, while some other settings may need to be configured again.
Same PokerStars network, new UK access point
The migration changes how UK players reach PokerStars rather than the underlying poker network. The games, major tournament series and global player pool remain, while Betfair becomes the access point for UK customers.

For UK players, the key distinction is simple: customers without an active Betfair account can expect their PokerStars account and poker assets to transfer, while those who already have an active Betfair account will need to withdraw from PokerStars and continue through that account.
