Kiat Lee completed a dramatic turnaround at the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series in Jeju, winning the $40,000 Mystery Bounty event for $619,000. He also secured eight bounty envelopes, while runner-up Jamil Wakil earned $419,000 and six bounties.

Around 2pm on the tournament floor of the Triton Poker Jeju II, Malaysia's Kiat Lee was facing potential elimination on the bubble of the $40,000 Mystery Bounty event.

Lee needed his hand to hold against Canada's Jamil Wakil to double his short stack and remain in contention for a payout after his time at the tables.

Approximately nine hours later, Lee was once again involved in a huge pot against Wakil, hoping for a favourable flop.

The outcome was the same, with Lee winning the pot. This time, however, it was the final pot of the tournament, securing Lee his fourth Triton title and denying Wakil his first.

The victory completed a remarkable turnaround for Lee, who had gone from the brink of the bubble to tournament champion. His latest Triton success adds another title to a career that has continued to blossom on the tournament series he treats as his home.

Lee has secured $619,000 for his victory. His tournament haul could increase significantly when he opens eight bounty envelopes at a ceremony tomorrow.

Each envelope is worth a minimum of $40,000, giving Lee at least another $320,000 in bounty money. That means his total payday from the event is highly likely to reach seven figures.

Wakil finished runner-up for $419,000 and also has six bounty envelopes to open. Although his first Triton trophy remains elusive, his result still leaves him with substantial earnings from the event.

The $40,000 Mystery Bounty event attracted a 133-entry field, with Day 1 focused on reaching the 25 percent of the field eligible to receive a bounty token.

A total of 33 players survived Day 1 and bagged their chips shortly before 1 a.m. They returned for Day 2 with every subsequent elimination rewarded with a bounty pull.

The tournament also featured an official money bubble, which was set to burst when only 23 players remained. That stage developed into a prolonged and tense affair, with numerous players facing elimination threats while managing to survive.

The Event #7 tournament was a $40,000 No-Limit Hold'em Mystery Bounty played six-handed at the specified stage, with a total prize pool of $5,320,000.

Lee's fourth Triton title came after he had been close to elimination during the tournament's bubble phase earlier in the day.

His final confrontation with Wakil produced the decisive moment of the event, with Lee winning the tournament's last pot against the Canadian.

Lee finished with $619,000 in prize money and eight bounty envelopes still to open, while Wakil collected $419,000 for second place alongside six bounties.

The result marked a dramatic progression from potential bubble elimination to a fourth Triton championship for Lee at the $40,000 Mystery Bounty event.
