The Triton Super High Roller Series Montenegro continues to deliver historic moments and massive prize pools.
In the latest action from the festival, Triton ambassador Danny Tang secured the most significant title of his career, while Aleks Ponakovs emerged victorious in a dramatic anniversary tournament. Meanwhile, the preliminary action continues to develop, and the schedule shifts focus toward elite four-card action.
Seven years after coming painfully close to a major breakthrough, Danny Tang captured the $100,000 Main Event title at Triton Super High Roller Series Montenegro on Saturday night. The victory earned the Triton ambassador a massive $3,522,000 score.
Tang navigated through a highly competitive 159-entry field to secure the top spot. The milestone win pushed his career live tournament earnings beyond $42 million. With this result, Tang has further strengthened his position at the top of Hong Kong’s all-time money list.
The $150,000 10th Anniversary Special at Triton Poker Montenegro concluded with a dramatic heads-up clash. American pro Jonathan Jaffe appeared poised to capture one of the biggest titles of his career. However, a brutal hero call in the closing stages shifted the momentum of the entire tournament.
Latvian high roller Aleks Ponakovs took advantage of the shift, closing out the victory under the lights to claim a $3,027,000 first-place prize. Jaffe collected $2,103,000 for his runner-up finish.
The special anniversary event attracted 76 entries, which generated a total prize pool of $11,400,000. The stacked final table featured some of the most prominent names in the high-stakes poker world.
In other tournament action, Tobias Schwecht leads the final seven players in the Triton $30K NLH/PLO event.
As that event approaches its conclusion, the spotlight at Triton SHRS Montenegro shifts to four cards. The $100,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Main Event is scheduled to get underway today at 5 p.m. local time.
Widely recognized as the biggest and most prestigious PLO tournament on the poker calendar, the event is anticipated to attract another field of elite high-stakes talent competing for one of the most coveted titles in the game.
Day 1 of the PLO Main Event will feature 10 levels of play. Unlimited re-entry remains open through the start of Day 2, allowing the field size and the total prize pool to grow well into the evening. Following a series that has already produced major scores, emotional victories, and intense action, the stage is set for this headline festival event.
