
Peter Eastgate defeated Ivan Demidov in a thrilling heads-up battle to be crowned WSOP champion on Tuesday. Eastgate's victory in the WSOP Main Event ensures the 22 year-old poker ace returns home to Odense $9,152,416 better off, after picking up the lucrative first place prize.
Having recently starred in the Poker Heaven European Cash Game, Eastgate was simply too strong for his Russian opponent as the pressure began to build at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. When victory finally came at 5:33am local time, Eastgate was also able rejoice in beating Phil Hellmuth’s record as the youngest ever winner of the WSOP Main Event.
