The much-anticipated return of the SunBet Poker Tour to GrandWest Casino in Cape Town promises a grand finale to South Africa’s poker season.
Running from November 19 to 30, this two-week poker festival features 16 action-packed events and a total of R10 million in guaranteed prize pools. Players can expect a diverse mix of high-stakes battles, deep structures, and special events that appeal to every type of poker enthusiast.
MonsterStack Main Event Offers R4 Million Guaranteed
At the heart of the series lies the R15,000 buy-in MonsterStack Main Event — the festival’s crown jewel. With a deep 100,000-chip starting stack and an elite structure that emphasizes strategy and skill, the event offers both prestige and significant prize money.
The Main Event features three Day 1 flights:
- Day 1A: Thursday, November 27 at 12 p.m.
- Day 1B: Friday, November 28 at 11 a.m.
- Day 1C: Friday, November 28 at 7 p.m.
The first two flights run with 60-minute levels, while 1C shortens to 40 minutes, ensuring varied pace options. Unlimited re-entry is available through the first 13 levels, with late registration open until 4:30 p.m. on Day 2. The final champion will be crowned on November 30.
The 2024 edition left a lasting legacy when Mauritius-based player Saurabh Gulati overcame a 504-entry field to seize the title and a major share of a R6,350,400 prize pool. His win marked a milestone, with two players, Ronit Chamani and Diane Walker.

Adding further prestige to the schedule, The Hendon Mob Championship (THMC) Cape Town Million returns as a major mid-stakes highlight.
This R8,000 buy-in event provides a 30,000 starting stack and guarantees R1.25 million, making it a favorite for regional grinders and international visitors seeking to earn a coveted South African flag on their The Hendon Mob profiles.
The event runs three starting flights between November 23-24 before progressing to Day 2 on Tuesday, November 25.
Each flight plays 30-minute levels in a big blind ante format, with one in eight entries finishing in the money. Players can re-enter freely during the first 11 levels, ensuring a dynamic and competitive field.
In 2024, THMC shattered expectations with 299 entries and a prize pool exceeding R2 million.
Local grinder Muaaz Gani won after a heads-up deal with Sugen Singh, proudly keeping the trophy in Cape Town.
