The WSOP Circuit Calgary 2025 at Deerfoot Inn & Casino awarded over $5 million in prizes. Travis MacMillan won the Main Event, leading a record field in a thrilling festival filled with standout performances, multiple ring winners, and poker excellence.

The WSOP Circuit Calgary 2025, held from October 1–13 at the Deerfoot Inn & Casino, delivered one of the most spectacular poker festivals in Canadian history. 

Spanning 18 championship ring events and awarding over $5 million in prize money, the series drew 8,078 total entries from across North America, confirming Calgary’s growing reputation as a poker powerhouse.

With its mix of deep-stack events, turbos, mixed games, and high-stakes showdowns, the festival blended prestige, competition, and accessibility in a way that reflected the strength of the WSOP Circuit brand in Canada.

Total Prizes & Player Pool

Across the 13-day schedule, the series amassed CA$5,034,726 in total prizes. The Main Event alone drew 910 entries and built a CA$1,865,500 prize pool, ranking among the four biggest WSOPC Calgary editions in history.

Event Variety

The festival hosted 18 official ring events, from the $250 Flip & Go to the elite $3,500 High Roller NLH, offering formats that included bounty tournaments, turbo structures, PLO, and a special Ladies Event. 
Each event attracted large, competitive fields that showcased poker’s diversity and depth in the region.

Travis MacMillan Captures the WSOPC Calgary Main Event Title

The highlight of the festival came when Travis MacMillan triumphed in the CA$1,350 Main Event, outlasting a field of 910 players to earn CA$312,965 and the coveted WSOP Circuit gold ring.

In a thrilling heads-up battle against Victor Li, MacMillan engineered a comeback after trailing early. The decisive hand arrived when Li shoved the river with two pairs, only for MacMillan to hero-call with trip kings — a read that sealed his victory and a seat in the WSOP Tournament of Champions. 

MacMillan’s performance stood out for its composure and precision — a fitting finish to a festival defined by resilience and skill.

Ring Winners and Event Highlights

Kyle Ho secured his third WSOPC ring in Event #8: $1,000 NLH, topping 364 entries for CA$68,673.
Harpreet Gill claimed his first live circuit title in Event #11: $1,000 NLH Turbo, winning CA$35,195 after dominating an action-packed final table.

Nicholas Lee triumphed in the $400 Mini Main Event, besting 1,668 players to capture CA$75,190 and his fourth WSOPC ring. Other standout champions included:
  • Quinn Kannekens, winner of the Mystery Bounty
  • Angelo Gambrelis, champion of the Seniors NLH
  • Stephen Dauphinais, who took down the Mixed T.O.R.S.E. event

The festival also crowned winners in the $250 Flip & Go, $400 PLO Bounty, $400 Ladies NLH, and $3,500 High Roller, adding to Calgary’s rich circuit legacy.

Monster Stack & Turbo Thrills

The $400 Monster Stack NLH (Event #10) drew an incredible 1,203 entries and generated a CA$377,141 prize pool, making it one of the largest side events in the series. Taeyoon Kang led into Day 2 after a dominating early run, before a fierce final table reshaped the leaderboard.

In the $1,000 NLH Turbo, Harpreet Gill’s sharp aggression and steady focus earned him the title, wrapping up the event in dramatic fashion and adding another highlight to the 2025 festival.

Notable performances in the series

The festival saw several notable deep runs, including Gabriel Vezina, who finished 8th in the Main Event for CA$31,696, and Ruoxiao Shi and Arya Ghai, who both impressed with consistent results.

A wave of first-time participants and online qualifiers also made headlines, proving that the WSOP Circuit remains a platform where new poker talents can emerge and shine.

Calgary’s Growing Role on the WSOP Circuit Map

This October edition marked the first time WSOPC Calgary was held in the fall season, shifting from its traditional winter or spring timing. 

The move proved to be a success — both in attendance and atmosphere — underscoring Calgary’s rise as one of Canada’s most important poker destinations.
