Success in tournament poker often requires a blend of disciplined technical play and the occasional mathematical absurdity. Martin Lechner found both in Glasgow this week.
In his first-ever 888poker LIVE appearance, the Austrian native outlasted a 348-player field to win the £888 Main Event. The victory, worth £57,515, came after a brief heads-up negotiation with Richard Kellett and a tournament run defined by a survivalist instinct that saw Lechner dodge elimination with just one out remaining late in the day.

The final table began with Zexuan Huang in the driver's seat as chip leader, but the dynamic shifted as Lechner and Kellett pulled away from the pack.
