The poker industry was shaken last week when The Lodge, the largest cardroom in Texas, was raided by law enforcement authorities.

Approximately 20 agents from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, alongside officers from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and the IRS, carried out the operation at the Round Rock venue.

According to Chris Porter, Director of Communications at the TABC, authorities executed a search and seizure warrant tied to an ongoing investigation into suspected money laundering and illegal gambling.

Assets Frozen as Investigation Unfolds

The Lodge, co-owned by Doug Polk, Andrew Neeme, and Brad Owen, saw its assets and bank accounts frozen as part of the investigation.

The club has remained closed since the raid, and no formal charges have been filed so far. Despite the seriousness of the action, several critical questions about the case remain unanswered.

Polk Denies Allegations

Doug Polk issued his first public response on Monday, March 16, days after the raid. His earlier reaction came on March 11, when he described the investigation as a “witch hunt” and assured players their funds were secure.

In his latest statement, Polk took a firmer stance. He denied any knowledge of money laundering activities, reiterated his commitment to ensuring all player balances are paid, and confirmed that he is fully cooperating with authorities as the investigation continues.
Polk’s statement follows a separate release from The Lodge, which has already sparked widespread discussion across the poker community.

The situation has been dissected in detail, including timelines, confirmed facts, and speculation around the possible reasons behind the raid.

For now, the cardroom remains shut, with frozen assets and no charges filed, leaving the poker world watching closely as the investigation unfolds.
