Main Event Gets a Buy-In Increase

Queens of Tallinn's centrepiece has changed considerably since the festival started in 2023.

The Main Event began with a €350 buy-in in its inaugural edition, dropped to €250 in 2024 and returned to €350 in 2025. This year's jump to €555 therefore makes it the highest-priced Main Event in the festival's short history.

Day 1 starts at 14:30 on Friday, August 28. The eight-handed tournament uses 30,000-chip starting stacks and 40-minute levels, with nine levels played on the opening day.

Day 2 begins at noon on Saturday and runs until the field reaches its final nine. The remaining players return Sunday for the final table, which is scheduled to be livestreamed.

A larger buy-in follows a record turnout in 2025. Last year's Main Event attracted 96 entries and produced €27,677 in prizes, with Lithuania's Giedre Valgemäe eventually taking the title.

Queens Crown, PLO and Bounties Among Side Events

The Main Event occupies three days, but the supporting schedule fills most of the remaining gaps.

The festival opens with an €80 NLH Deep Stack on August 27. Friday adds a €150 traditional bounty tournament, while Saturday carries the busiest side-event schedule.

The €200 PokerNews Queens Crown Deepstack returns on August 29 alongside a €150 PLO4/PLO5 tournament and an €80 Saturday Night Turbo. A €250 Progressive Bounty starts at the same time as the Main Event final table on Sunday.

The three-player Team Challenge also returns, with points earned through eligible women-only events. Two percent of qualifying tournament prize pools goes into the team competition, with the leading teams sharing the rewards at the end of the festival.

From the Poker Room to Tallinn Old Town

Olympic Park Casino is connected directly to Hilton Tallinn Park, placing the tournament venue and accommodation under the same roof. Hilton describes the property as sitting between the medieval Old Town and Kadriorg Park, with both accessible on foot.

For Tallinn, Queens follows a busy summer of live poker at the same venue, including the recent WSOP Circuit stop. The Estonian capital has become a regular fixture on Northern European poker schedules, while Queens gives the late-August weekend its own identity through its women-focused tournament programme.

Away from the tables, Tallinn's UNESCO-listed Old Town remains one of Europe's best-preserved medieval centres, with much of its street plan and architecture dating from the 13th to 16th centuries.
