Maurice Hawkins has officially entered his Michael Jordan era, and he brought the jersey to prove it. On Monday night at Horseshoe Tunica, the winningest player in World Series of Poker Circuit history captured his 23rd career gold ring in the $400 Double Stack Closer.

Clad in a Chicago Bulls #23 jersey for his winner’s photo, Hawkins made it clear that while his lead on the all-time leaderboard is growing, his hunger for the "next one" hasn't faded a bit.

Widening the Gap in Tunica

The win capped off a spectacular week in Mississippi for Hawkins. Just days after taking down the $400 Mini Main Event for over $35,000, he navigated a field of 127 entries in the series finale to secure another $10,473.

This wasn't just about the cash, though; it was about the math. Hawkins now sits three rings ahead of Ari Engel (20) and four ahead of Daniel Lowery (19), effectively turning the all-time ring race into a battle for second place.

Beyond the hardware, the victory also locked up the Tunica Casino Champion title for Hawkins. This comes with a significant "freeroll", a seat in the 2026 WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas this July.

Despite the various "beefs" and table-talk controversies that often follow him, Hawkins’ ability to close out tournaments remains his most undeniable trait.
