Tom Dwan Back in the Spotlight After Years of Silence

Born in 1986 in Edison, New Jersey, Dwan dropped out of Boston University to play poker full time. His aggressive style made him a fan favorite on High Stakes Poker and Poker After Dark, battling Ivey, Brunson, and Antonius. He accumulated over $5,000,000 in live tournament cashes, including a WSOP runner-up finish in 2010.

Black Friday shut down Full Tilt overnight, wiping out Dwan's primary arena. He relocated to massive private games in Macau and Manila, where stakes were enormous but accountability was zero. He largely vanished from public poker media for nearly a decade.

Jetten said Dwan sent only a $30,000 partial payment after public pressure, then disputed the remaining balance. In a 2024 PokerNews interview, Dwan denied parts of the claims, acknowledged owing Voulgaris "around a million" at one point, and argued some amounts were disputed. In 2025 he publicly reconciled with Jungleman in a GTO Wizard appearance, though no financial terms were disclosed.
