Live poker was supposed to be slowing down. Apparently, nobody told the WSOP. Before the Main Event even reaches its final showdown, WSOP 2026 Las Vegas has already delivered the kind of numbers that make the “poker is dying” crowd look like they have been folding pocket aces face up for years.

The summer series produced record WSOP numbers, nearly half a billion dollars in prize money, and players from almost every corner of the globe came to Vegas for the ultimate live poker experience. What Happens Next for WSOP 2026?

The biggest moment of the summer is still ahead:

  • The WSOP Main Event final table returns to Las Vegas from August 3 to 5, with the next world champion set to join poker’s most exclusive list. 

The WSOP calendar also continues expanding beyond the summer series. 

  • The new $1 million Global Player of the Year race links WSOP Las Vegas with WSOP Europe and WSOP Paradise, creating a season-long competition for the top performers.
  • Next up is WSOP Paradise at Baha Mar in The Bahamas from December 1 to 17, 2026. The festival will crown the first Global POY winner, while WSOP Circuit events continue keeping the tournament schedule packed.

So, is live poker dying? Judging by these numbers, it is doing the exact opposite and coming back stronger than ever.
